Learn… about how you can help
United Way of Greater Nashua’s third “Coffee and Causes” get-together for retirees will take place on Friday, November 1 from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Nashua Senior Center.
The subject for this month’s get-together is ACEs or Adverse Childhood Experiences. ACEs is the term used to describe all types of abuse, neglect, and other potentially traumatic experiences that occur to people under the age of 18. It has been linked to risky health behaviors, chronic health conditions, low life potential, and early death.
Retirees can help by talking to their friends and family members about the causes and effects of ACEs. Volunteer opportunities related to this and other topics will be discussed.
For more information about Coffee and Causes and our Stay United Retirees group, contact Sara Ceaser at firstname.lastname@example.org

The ShoeBox Project puts a spotlight on staying warm and reducing fuel costs. Help us build a kit of essential items that help seniors prepare for the cold months ahead. Items will be distributed through our community partners: St. Joseph Community Services Meals on Wheels, The Caregivers, Gateways, Nashua Senior Center and Southern NH Services. More than 1300 seniors live at or below the poverty line in our community. During the Winter months, many face the difficult choice between heat and having enough to eat. Help us provide seniors with information and resources to help reduce heating costs, stay warm, cozy and safe until the warm weather comes back our way.

United Way of Greater Nashua 2019 Past Community Events
United Way of Greater Nashua works to make a difference in the Greater Nashua community through fundraising events and direct action events like our bi-annual Food Packaging Days of Caring and our annual Community Baby Shower. You are invited to be part of our efforts in making a change in our community by volunteering at one or all of these events!
In 2019 we had so many great events…. check them out here:
Blizzard Blast: our first annual winter based obstacle course race through Mine Falls Park — 450 participants gave it their all in this amazing event. Check out some pictures HERE and learn about Blizzard Blast 2020 HERE!
Food Packaging: during two amazing events we packed up over 20,000 meals for distribution to the food pantries serving Greater Nashua. These meals help ensure that no family is ever sent away hungry. Check out pictures from these events HERE!
Community Farming: Each year we try to build a community farm, community garden, or some other way for people to grow and gain access to healthy food. In 2019 we partnered again with Grow Nashua to build a community farm at Dr. Crisp Elementary School. Check out the great pictures HERE!
Community Baby Shower: Our 3rd Annual Community Baby Shower was a huge success. We were able to help over 50 low income new moms and dads to gain access to information and resources to help insure that they get the best possible start in life. Check out some pictures from the event HERE! In 2019, our Community Baby Shower was also profiled by New Hampshire Chronicle on WMUR! Check out the video HERE!
Over the Edge: Our 3rd Annual LIVE UNITED Over the Edge was again held in June at the Brady-Sullivan Tower in Manchester. Over 100 brave souls rapelled from the top of this 24 story tower to raise money for over 20 different community nonprofits. Collectively we raised almost $200,000! Check out the amazing pictures from the event HERE! Also, the event was profiled by WMUR’s New Hampshire Chronicle, which you can see HERE!
United We Sleep: For one night in September, we came together with fellow community members in learning about the level of poverty that exists and exploring pathways to success in the greater Nashua community. We learned from local experts as we participated in a unique, experience of a sleep out in a cardboard box at Nashua Community College. Together, we can make a difference preventing and eliminating homelessness in our community. For pictures from United We Sleep 2019, click HERE!
