Wee Read United

Helping Greater Nashua Kids Fall in Love with Reading

Wee Read United is a community volunteer program in Nashua where adults read books and lead simple activities with preschoolers to build early  literacy and excitement about reading.

Our volunteers visit early childhood centers and city parks across the Greater Nashua area to share stories, spark imagination, and help young children build a lifelong love of books. Children who participate in these reading sessions also receive free books to take home and enjoy with their families or caregivers.

To help bring reading into everyday life, the program also places free children’s books in places families visit every day so kids can discover the joy of reading anywhere.

If your child received or found one of these books, please take it home and enjoy reading it together!

3 Easy Ways to Make Storytime Fun

Reading together doesn’t have to be complicated. These simple tips help young children learn while having fun.

  1. Ask your child “What do you think will happen next?”

This builds imagination and helps kids think about the story.

  2. Let them turn the pages and point at pictures

This keeps them engaged and helps connect words with images.

  3. Read the same book again

Kids learn through repetition. Hearing stories multiple times helps build vocabulary and confidence.

Why Early Reading Matters

Children who are read to regularly develop stronger language skills, larger vocabularies, and a deeper love of learning. Even 10 minutes of reading together each day can make a big difference.

Programs like Wee Read United help ensure every child in Nashua has access to books and positive reading experiences.
