St Joseph Hospital Wins Gate City Light Award
NASHUA – On Tuesday, May 9th, St. Joseph Hospital was presented the “Gate City Light” Award by Mayor Donchess and the City of Nashua’s Mayor’s Volunteer Recognition Committee. This award recognizes an organization and its volunteers for “giving their time in the spirit of community, caring, and making significant contributions to the people of Nashua.” In 2023, this award went to St. Joseph Hospital, according to the City of Nashua, for their tireless work serving their patients in collaboration with volunteers in a myriad of positions throughout the hospital.
Nominations for this award are traditionally collected from the community during the month of April, Global Volunteer Month. United Way of Greater Nashua was the last award recipient.
Over 50 nominations were collected, the majority of which went to St. Joseph Hospital. Stepping Stones, a youth drop in center which is currently expanding their services received the second largest number of nominations, and Revive Recovery Resource Center, a peer recovery support center, was in third place.
Chairperson of the Mayor’s Volunteer Recognition Committee, Sara Ceaser said “The City of Nashua is very fortunate to have so many great organizations for volunteers to choose from. It is heartwarming to see so many nominations coming in for organizations doing such important work in our community. Congratulations to St. Joseph Hospital’s volunteers and staff for this well-deserved recognition.”
The public can learn about many of the volunteer opportunities available in the region at the Greater Nashua Volunteer Fair at the Nashua Public Library on May 18th from 4pm to 7pm. If you enjoy working with children or seniors, indoors or outdoors, hands on activities or a collaborative think-tank atmosphere, there is a volunteer opportunity for you right here in our community.
