United We Sleep Youth Sleep-Out — Cancelled
May 6 @ 5:00 pm - May 7 @ 7:00 am
Sorry, but this event has been cancelled for 2023. We will have our normally scheduled “United We Sleep” event in the fall and hope to see you there!
This event is specifically intended to educate teenagers and young adults about youth homelessness. They are invited to gather with us in an outdoor location, to sleep outdoors with minimal comforts. By participating in this fundraiser, they can learn about issues in our community and how they personally can make a positive impact. Interested teams and individuals can register today!
Who – Greater Nashua Area youth, ages 12-18, affiliated with a school, church, or other service group, participating in teams of up to 10. More participants per organization must form additional teams. Each team must supply 1 or more background-checked chaperones for their team.
What – An experiential sleepout event with a focus on homelessness and poverty. Participants will fundraise a minimum of $500 per team. As an alternative, teams may perform a service project, such as a collection drive, with permission from United Way. During the event, participants will:
- Learn from experts about homelessness and the economics of poverty
- Get a deeper understanding of resources available in our community to support at-risk individuals
- Participate in experiential learnings and simulations
- Develop a personal action plan to make a difference
When – Saturday May 6th at 5 pm until Sunday May 7th at 7 am
Where – Nashua HS North Athletic Fields
Why – 1) To learn more about community issues including homelessness in order to become a lifelong change-maker and 2) to help raise funds for the community safety net.
How – Participants register on line with a team at https://www.tinyurl.com/uwgnyouthsleepout2023 and begin fundraising!
