Coffee and Causes: Advocacy Essentials Talk for Seniors
United Way would like to invite seniors (and those who support them) to join them at the Rogers Memorial Library in Hudson at 11:30am on Friday, October 6th for a conversation about Advocacy with representatives from New Futures, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that advocates, educates, and collaborates to improve the health and wellness of all New Hampshire residents through policy change and from Housing Action NH, a coalition of organizations united around a common vision that everyone benefits when all Granite Staters have an affordable place to call home. The speakers will be talking about some of the issues that affect people living in our community and how we as individuals can advocate for change.
Staff from New Futures will provide an Advocacy Essentials training that includes information about the NH Legislature, the power of your personal story, and basic advocacy skills for connecting with your elected officials. Housing Action NH will talk about the rising cost of housing, how it is directly affecting seniors and will discuss causes, solutions, and how the community can help.
This event is part of a series of monthly talks for seniors.
Those interested in attending may register here: https://tinyurl.com/UWAdvocacy or contact United Way at info@unitedwaynashua.org or (603)882-4011.
Coffee and other refreshments will be available.
Future talks will take place at various locations around the area and will include topics like Veterans’ Services, Loneliness and Depression, Falls Prevention, and Talking to your Doctor.
